James Jolley

James Jolley is an attorney practicing at the law firm Smith Anderson LLP in Raleigh, which he joined in 2015. He practices in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and public company securities law. James also serves on the firm’s Management Committee, as well as co-chairing the firm’s recruiting and pro bono efforts.
James is a product of North Carolina’s great public schools. He attended Governor’s School East in 2002 in Social Science and then graduated from Burns High School in Lawndale, NC. He received his undergraduate degree in 2007 and his law degree in 2014 from UNC-Chapel Hill, and in between, he taught high school social studies at East Wake High School in Wendell, NC.
Outside of the office, James is engaged in his community, working with others to empower individuals to reach their full potential and to make North Carolina an even better place to live. James is an active volunteer with Legal Aid of North Carolina and the NC Pro Bono Resource Center, and with his church, Edenton Street UMC In Downtown Raleigh. James was named a recipient of the Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Leadership Award.
James lives in Raleigh with his wife Emily and their two daughters, Maddie and Olivia, who attend Wake County Public Schools.
